The Call (2013)

Genre
Thriller

Narrative
The storyline is shown to be a helpline girl who has a second chance to rescue a girl and find the truth of the past call.

Character
The main character Halle Berry is a Hollywood star. Brave,Determined and willing to rescue a girl. The use of a girl creates the 'Damsel in distress' feel however this movie breaks the stereotype as a woman is saving the girl instead of a man. An american man as a villain also breaks the stereotype and shows that women have more power over men. Furthermore, the use of the classic Taken 'Daughter dragged from under the bed scene' makes it look like there is a girl in need of saving.

Iconography
There is plenty of iconography typical of the thriller for example violence, smashing glass, screaming, Damsel in distress and the suspenseful music. - In connection with this narrative, we can clearly understand that this is a thriller.

Setting
Although the trailer is around two minutes long, we can clearly identify that they are in the safe location of America however as we can see, it does not stay safe for very long. Furthermore, the use of an underground bunker as the murder zone creates the impression that this is a Thriller.

Sci-Fi Movie Analysis.

In this shot, it shows all of the officers in a zoom shot. This tells the audience that they are searching for the main character and it shows they're emotions which are quite angry and precise. Moreover, the use of this close up foreshadows that there may be a fighting or escape scene throughout this clip.

In this shot, it shows the character (played as Tom Cruise) in a close up zoom which instantly shows that he is in trouble and there is no way out of where he was as all of the police officers were surrounding him. This also is used to show the realisation of his emotion as in this scene he is looking quite nervous and worried which also opens a door to show what the character is like. Finally, this can also foreshadow the fact that there might be an action scene in this alley way.

In this shot, there is a long shot of an action scene within this clip which shows that the rest of the scene will be based on the alley way. Furthermore the use of the crane shot in this scene shows that there is going to be many flying scenes. Moreover the use of an alley way in this scene makes the audience infer that there is going to be a fight scene because alleyways are usually connoted as bad places and a scene with action. The use of the abandoned car creates suspense and shows that the alleyway is a danger zone.

War Of The Worlds (2005)

Language:The lettering is in a bright red which connotes blood, fear and death. This shows that the film may be about death. Furthermore, you can identify that this is a poster for a movie as there is the billing block at the bottom. A billing block is the list of people who helped create the film for example the director. The use of the tag line 'They're already here' shows that this is a movie about some sort of invasion or war.

Institution: Steven Spielberg is a well known director so from knowing that he was the director of this film, you can connote that there is going to be many action scenes or jumping scenes in the movie as that is what he is well associated with.

Audience: This film looks like it would be targeted at both genders but mostly men as the main character is a man (Tom Cruise). Furthermore, the movie is based on an alien invasion (which is clearly seen in the poster) shows that this film is mostly aimed at men because men are the type that like the alien invasion sub-genre more than women. I think that this would be more appropriate to watch by ages 15+ as children may not like alien invasions as they get petrified. Furthermore I suggest this to ages 15+ as they are the ages that will mostly like the alien invasion sub-genre.

Representation: The centre picture shows earth being held by some sort of alien hand which has some sort of red roots which looks like it is extending and moving towards earth which shows that this movie is based on an alien invasion. Moreover, around the centre picture is all back which shows darkness and darkness is usually connoted as the end of something or horror which could also be one of the sub-genres.

FANTASTIC FOUR

Genre: Fanstastic Four fits into the genre of sci-fi and action.

plot summary:Transported to an alternate universe, four young outsiders gain superhuman powers as they alter their physical form in shocking ways. Reed Richards becomes Mr. Fantastic, able to stretch and twist his body at will, while pal Ben Grimm gains immense strength as the Thing. Johnny Storm becomes the Human Torch, able to control and project fire, while his sister Sue becomes the Invisible Woman. Together, the team must harness their new abilities to prevent Doctor Doom from destroying the Earth.'Fantastic Four , a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy'.This is based on the key concept of Good Vs Evil as the fantastic fours aim is to help the world from doctor doom. Furthermore this also fits into the sub genre of space as the way they get these super human powers is by traveling to space and being hit by a radioactive substance.

In my opinion the target audience will be based on ages 12-40 as there are many scenes that are only for 12+ and the reason why it stops at 40 is because some elderly people do not like superhero films and they stick to classical romance and other film genres.Furthermore I think this will mostly be based on men/boys as the film is male dominant and there is only one female in the movie that has one of the boring super powers. This shows some stereotypes as it shows that men have better thigns than women.

The Director 'Josh Trank' is a well know director for his movies Chronicle (2012) and The kill point (2007). Furthermore, what makes this movie a well known movie is the fact that it has been produced by 20th century fox and Marvel Entertainment which makes the audience instantly identify that it is made by two companies that have made very good films. Moreover, Marvel had decided to create a better remake of the (2005) Fantastic Four with the budget of $100,000,000 which shows that by adding that extra $20,000,000 they were able to add better SFX and Effects to the movie which also meant they were able to get better quality cameras (4k).

The Audience is targeted to watch this film by the use of trailers on Social Media and on TV. This will target the audience as in the trailer they leave it on a cliffhanger as they dont know what happens to the world. Furthermore the use of C class cast puts it down however the use of Premiers and interviews of the stars makes them more well known to the audience.

Genre: Sci-Fi, Action and Superhero.

The reason why I have chosen the word community is that it is something that builds our society and puts it into place as without community there would be many inequalities. Firstly, the reason why I had chosen the Greenford High School logo is because we are all pat of a school community and we are the ones who build up this school to be a school. Furthermore I used the Magic Wand tool to delete the background of the school logo and I replaced it with grass and grass can sometimes connote the environment and freedom. Secondly the reason why I chose a church is because religion is part of everyone and it is built up of everyone so this can commemorate a society/community. Finally I used a picture of a multicultural group of people as no matter what are ethnicity or race, we are all on earth and we are all part of a community.

The reason why I have chosen the Wembley stadium and the champions league final is because it had many followers and football matters to a lot of people as this sport is one of the most well known sport and it is passionate to many people. Firstly, the reason why I used the word home is because for some people, a football stadium is part of their life and just like their home, they live to see it. Secondly, the reason why I had used the word passion is because football is a passion to some people and they enjoy playing it and also watching it. Finally, the reason why I added a negative comment 'Hate' was because some people may not enjoy football and they may find it very boring or dull to watch and play as they may suggest that it wastes time and it is useless.
